Non-UN Actors     

Beyond the United Nations, a look at other actors involved in WPS.

Promoting gender equality is a multidimensional work that requires the interaction among a range of actors, operating each one according to its specialized role in a coordinated manner. While UN actors are tasked to promote worldwide progress on gender, coordinate and stimulate participation of all actors, those latter are usually the ones that better know local specific contexts. From civil society, to governmental instutions and local and onternational non governmental organixations, each actor can contribute to gender promotion. This section aims to present some of those actors, illustrating their role on gender equality and their relationships with UN system.
