Civil Society and Public Security
In addition to national approaches and those followed by States through international cooperation (both state-centric by nature), civil society and academia also play a fundamental role in public security. This cooperation includes the production of informative tools to assist decision-makers, engaging in studies with the local population in order to gauge security perceptions, and placing key issues on national, regional and international agendas in order to promote advancements in the understanding of security challeneges and the formulation of appropriate programs and policies to combat them.
