Las fuerzas armadas tienen la misión fundamental de la defensa de la soberanía y la integridad
territorial. En las últimas décadas y frente a las transformaciones sociales y políticas, han tenido que adaptarse a los cambios y nuevos escenarios de actuación. El incremento de mujeres en las filas militares es parte de estos procesos de cambio, y no solo es cuantitativo sino también en cuanto a las funciones que cumplen dentro de las estructuras militares.
