Online Launch of the Hybrid Security Governance Observatory (HSGO), organized by ASSN with the collaboration of RESDAL
On Monday, October 7, 2024, at 2:00 PM (GMT), the African Security Sector Network (ASSN), with the collaboration of the Latin American Security and Defence Network (RESDAL) and Laam
, will officially launch the Hybrid Security Governance Observatory (HSGO). The HSGO is part of the Just Future Project, supported by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Participation in the online event is open, with registration available until Tuesday, October 1, 2024 through the following link: https://bit.ly/HSGO.
The HSGO is based on the concept of hybridity, which recognizes the complex interactions between formal and informal institutions that jointly shape the governance of security. These institutions can operate in complementary or competitive ways, influencing security outcomes in various regions, particularly in fragile or conflict-affected areas.
The purpose of the HSGO
The HSGO aims to provide a comprehensive mapping and in-depth analysis of the various elements that make up hybrid security governance. It also seeks to create an inclusive platform for fostering dialogue and building mutual understanding between key actors engaged in African security governance. This includes representatives from governments, international organizations, civil society, researchers, academics, and security experts.
