We bring together experts and practitioners who work on a daily basis to develop the capacities of institutions and contribute to society through the construction of a safe and peaceful environment.
Is a non-governmental organization based in Buenos Aires and Montevideo (Argentina and Uruguay), that seeks to collaborate with the construction of a secure and peaceful democratic environment at a global level. A network that creates, strengthens and links the capacities and efforts of decision-makers, academics and members of civil society within the field of security and defence, collaborating in the construction of a peaceful democratic environment in Latin America and the Caribbean where democratic institutions exist that generate policies, experiences and initiatives that at the same time impact the hemispheric and international security environment. Created in 2001, RESDAL works on generating a network of experts in security and defence issues by combining civil society, academics and practitioners. As a Think-tank and centre of action its mission is to serve as a space for the generation of projects and advocacy for the democratic advancement of the security sector, with an impact on both the hemispheric environment and international security. Since it was founded, we have contributed to greater transparency of government institutions and the introduction of key issues into the regional agenda, while supporting hemispheric cooperation processes and confidence-building, and reinforcing state and civil society capabilities, all of which inspires us to keep working.
We coordinate projects and activities from our Executive Secretariat, where a team of professionals from various countries in the region organises the execution of projects, convenes and links members together, responds to the enquiries of users, maintains the RESDAL website and organises visits and contacts with institutions from various countries. In addition, it administers resources, prepares and presents new projects, and searches for new funding opportunities, together with the other activities inherent to the daily functioning of the organisation.
