Prior to joining RESDAL, Chiara worked for four years for the United Nations Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) seconded by NORDEM (Norwegian Resource Bank for Democracy and Human Rights), covering the position of Coordination Officer of the Sexual Violence Unit in the Eastern Provinces of DR Congo (North Kivu, South Kivu, Katanga and Oriental Province). Chiara’s work consisted in supporting the DR Congo Government and UN actors in strategies of prevention and response to sexual violence incidents, including cases of complex emergencies such as massive rapes, and promoting the fight against conflict-related sexual violence through mechanisms to protect civilians. She also provided training and awareness-raising sessions to peacekeepers, DR Congo’s security and defence forces, and former elements of armed groups.
Prior to this Chiara was present in Western Africa, working on projects focusing on the mediation of land conflicts and the socio-economic reintegration of immigrants in Niger and Senegal.
Chiara holds a BA in International Relations and a Master in Peacekeeping Management from the University of Turin. She currently lives in Montevideo, where she also gives classes to peacekeepers at ENOPU, the National School for Peace Operations of Uruguay.
